In this account, the author goes on a long and perilous journey to a faraway location, with his only plan being to have a journey worth writing about. In his view, the destination is not as interesting or fulfilling as the journey, a principle which he fully commits to by translating his entire adventure getting to Esquel into writing without even describing the place he had gone through so much to get to. Travel AUTHOR Paul Theroux, born in 1941 in Medford, Mass., decided to go on the adventure inspiring this book after the success of his first travel book, ""The Great Railway Bazaar"", three years earlier.
