Raumbild-Verlag Otto Schönstein book ,Wien - Die Perle des Reiches’’ (Vienna - Pearl of the Reich) by Dr. Ernst Holzmann. This 128-page, 8 x 11-1/2 inch hardcover book was published in München (Munich) in 1941 at the direction of the Culture Office of the city of Wien with an introduction by Reichsleiter and Reichsstatthalter (and former leader of the Hitler Youth) Baldur von Schirach. The name of the book is taken from a comment made by Germany’s 23rd Chancellor Adolf Hitler on 9 April 1938 when he said, “diese Stadt [Wien] ist in meinen Augen eine Perle!” (this city [Vienna] is in my eyes a perl). The special covers of this album are about 1/2-inch thick and are die-cut with five cavities that hold 100 special 3-D stereo photographs (real photographs - NOT halftone prints) and the metal viewer with glass lenses that is set up to view the photographs. The 100 stereo photos each measure 2-3/8 x 5 inches and have a full description of the subject printed on the back. All pictures are available. When seen in the viewer each picture is incredibly three-dimensional, almost as if the scene was being viewed in real life.
