HISTORY OF THE BARGE CANAL OF NEW YORK STATE BY NOBLE E.
WHITFORD 1922 1ST INSCRIBED.
As promised in my recent modern listing about the Erie Canal and How to Use it I am pleased to offer: History of the Barge Canal of New York State by Noble E.
Whitford at the time Senior Assistant Engineer State Engineer s Department.
This large hardcover book (6 x 9 inches 610 pages) was published under the Authority of Frank M.
Williams then State Engineer and Surveyor.
The book was actually published as a supplement to the Annual Report of the State Engineer and Surveyor for the Year Ended June 30, 1921, and printed by J.
B.
Lyon Company Printers of Albany dated 1922 (presumably the First Edition).
The book is bound in dark green cloth boards with gilt titles on the spine.
It is signed with the compliments of the Author Noble E.
Whitford on the front endpaper.
Please see the photos of the Table of Contents and the List of Illustrations (a Frontispiece and 29 other b&w photos) for your further information.
Condition: This book is in very good condition.
The hardcovers have some very slight indications of bumping to the corners and spine tips and some few white specks on both front & rear covers.
Inside the book has a stamped number and the Author s inscription on the front endpapers and I found one inked marginal mark but these are the only marks I found in the book.
The interior pages and plates are generally clean and bright throughout with the exception of the pages adjacent to the glossy pages of plates which seem to have attracted some toning.
Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound.
This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
