From 1929 on Frances Ottesen has lived in the Mesilla Valley near Las Cruces, NM. She holds a Master of Arts from New Mexico State University and spent her career teaching. This is her first publication, a collection of poems reflecting her perception of the New Mexico landscape and its influence on her life. Her cousin and sister-in-law, Thelma Ottesen was trained in art in New Mexico State University and has held exhibitions at New Mexico State University and the Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe, as well as elsewhere in New Mexico and Texas. This is her first venture in book illustration.
