Presumed first edition of the author's last work, the posthumously-published start of an epic narrative poem about pioneers settling the nation. Handwritten note on first free page announces the book was once part of Earl Nelson's personal lending library around what is now Lincoln City, OR. The spine and lower back show slight chipping and bindings threatening to loosen. The dust jacket's front has been badly frayed with a pair of 1-2 inch closed tears bracketing the title while a lateral closed tear runs nearly the span of the cover just underneath. Overall though, despite the shelfwear and tanning of interior pages, the volume appears relatively unmolested by the years with deckled pages still vibrant. See photos.
