This is a collectible copy of the first printing of the 1947 revised text that has been inscribed to a friend by Roberts on the title page and also signed by his niece.
The blurb on the front flap of the dust jacket says, "This is a completely revised, reset and greatly enlarged edition of the unique recipe book which Kenneth Roberts persuaded his niece to compile and then became so interested that he took a hand in the writing.
" Among those whose recipes are included here are Trader Vic and the Duchess of Windsor.
The inscription reads, "For George S.
Savramis with all good wishes from an old Red Sox rooter.
" First edition of the work in this format and binding.

The text block is tight and unmarked with the pages slightly tanned from age.
Very Good Hardback bound in yellow cloth over boards.
The title is reverse printed on a green field on the spine, along with the authors' names in dark brown.
There is a small, plant-like device in dark brown in the lower right corner of the front cover.
The corners are only slightly bent with some shelf wear at the bottom tips.
Some wear at the head and foot of the spine, as well.
The unclipped dust jacket ($3.00) is in Very Good-minus condition.
The spine is sun-faded.
The top eighth of an inch or so at the head of the spine is lost, just touching Mosser's name.
Similar loss at the foot of the spine, not affecting any text.
There is surface loss at the fold between the spine and front panel.
Small chips at the head and foot of the folds of the flaps.
The jacket is now protected in a clear archival Brodart sleeve.
