Samuel Butler (1613-1680) was an English poet and satirist.
He is remembered for the satirical poem titled Hudibras, which is included in these collected works.

Fully bound in tan calf with gilt border and marble to all page edges.
Spines have five raised bands and two morocco title plates (green and burgundy) with gilt lettering.
Original gilt decoration to spines which has somewhat faded, leaving mainly the embossed lettering.
Light shelf-wear to extremities of boards.
Owners name to second free endpapers.

I has a hand-written inscription to the second free endpaper dated 1857.
