DESCRIPTION: A. Y. Jackson (October 3, 1882- April 5, 1974) was one of the founding members of the Group of Seven artists in Canada. Book has been signed by the author, Naomi Jackson Groves, the artist's niece, and by Jackson himself. Jackson's signature looks broken, not fluid. This could be explained if the book was signed by Jackson after his stroke in the Spring of 1968 which had considerable negative impact on his health, the same year this book was published. The book comes with several vintage newspaper clippings from 1960's and 70's describing the artist's work and life, as well as other material. 248 Pages, over 100 drawings, 12 1/4 by 10 1/4 inches, dustjacket unclipped. CONDITION: Clean pages, no notes or markings. Gift dedication on the front pastedown. Solid hinges and joints, cover clean with almost no edgewear. Top of the text block has some speckled discolouration that has not affected the inside of the pages. Couple of small smudges on the half-title page. Dustjacket has small chips and tears, back flap separated from the rest, now kept in acid-free Brodart cover. Happy to send more pictures. Due to larger size and heavier weight of this book extra shipping charges may apply which you will be advised of prior to finalizing the sale transaction. NOTE: Signature has not been independently authenticated.
