New York: Simon and Schuster, 1955. First edition, first printing. Signed by George Burns and Gracie Allen on a mounted sheet opposite the title page. Bound in publisher's black paper-covered boards over blue spine cloth lettered in gilt, blue topstain. About very good, topstain faded, edges lightly rubbed extremities bumped a bit. Dust jacket chipped at the edges. One half of Burns and Allen tells how both halves live and sets the story in the frame of his own life. From the lower East Side, Burns was totally dedicated to show business, couldn't be stopped from singing and dancing. There were strings of acts & routines but never that touch of success until there was Gracie -- and Burns and Allen clicked. Gracie got the lines, Burns played straight and they never looked back. From the small big time, to the Palace, radio, moving pictures and TV. They were popular abroad; Gracie looked for her lost brother; she ran for President; they adopted two children; they changed their act to fit their lives. George writes warmly, admiringly and happily about his partner-wife and spins his story with Burns and Allen humor. A nice, light fingered job.
