New York University Press. New York. 1954. 213 pages. First edition; first printing. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Pages lay tight. Blue cloth shows minor toning along edges. Even more rare than the publication is its original DJ. DJ is attractive and bright. Small closed fold along top edge; light shelf-rubbing. Includes the original New York University Press reviewers' bookplate with publication date of September 8, 1954. Also included is the original 8 panel accordion pamphlet regarding this title; and an order form for more copies. At one time the NYU Press bookplate was adhered to the interiior of the front panel and the paste used to adhere the bookplate dried-out; unfastening the bookplate that is now loosely laid-in. The bookplate and interior front panel space where bookplate was adhered have matching discoloration from where bookplate paste was. The bookplate could easily be re-adhered to its original resting spot on interior panel. Aside from these already stated minor flaws; book would grade about fine. A very nice copy of the elusive title that chronicles the affairs of the United Nations; and pressing global issues in calendar year 1953. The first chapter is devoted to legendary statesmen Dag Hammarskjold, and his iconic benevolence and insight on world affairs, global peace and opportunity for all. These early copies are rare and when they do show-up they tend to be heavily scarred with institutional stamps, markings, stickers, pocket etc. This is a rare exception; in its uncommon DJ. VG+/VG+
